Supporting Staff in Our School

As an adoption-friendly school, we: 

• Provide training for all staff in attachment, trauma and loss
• Take a graduated approach in staff’s continuing professional development
• Ensure that training leads to changes in practice
• Understand secondary trauma and blocked care and make staff aware of these
• Commit to looking after staff so they can look after children well
• Develop peer support for staff
• Offer external supervision and counselling for staff as needed
• Encourage and enable staff to care for themselves
