Children Who Are Looked After

At Stranton Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels valued, supported, and able to achieve their full potential. We recognise that children who are looked after by the local authority, or who have previously been in care, may face unique challenges, and we are dedicated to providing the care and support they need to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Our designated teacher for looked after and previously looked after children is Miss Sengelow (Deputy Headteacher / SENCo).

The designated teacher works closely with children, parents and carers, social workers, the Virtual School, and other professionals to ensure that each child’s individual needs are met and that their progress is regularly reviewed and celebrated.

We are committed to:

  • Providing a safe and nurturing environment where every child feels a sense of belonging.

  • Ensuring that each child has a high-quality, personalised learning plan to support their educational achievement.

  • Promoting strong home–school partnerships with carers and families.

  • Supporting children’s emotional wellbeing and positive relationships within the school community.

If you would like to find out more about the support we provide for looked after and previously looked after children, please contact Miss Sengelow via the school office on 01429 275595.
