Prioritising Relationships

As an adoption-friendly school, we: 

• Understand relational trauma and how relationships develop for children with and without good enough parenting
• Understand traumatised children’s needs for attachment, regulation and competence
• Provide key adults for vulnerable children
• Support the child and family with a team around the child
• Ensure that all staff interact with children in a validating and empathic way
• Ensure that our systems and procedures back up the importance of relationships
• Ensure that adults set the tone in their relationships with each other
• Help adults and children to find the joy in their relationships
